The site is about 20km from Corinth just off the road to Tripoli. It’s a very pleasant site to visit with a Temple to Zeus, a stadium where biannual games were held similar to Olympia, baths, and a Christian Basilica from the 6th century AD. The museum houses finds from the site and has an exceptional collection of ceramics, far larger and of a higher quality than some of the major sites. If you are passing Corinth it is definitely worth the short detour.
Due to the austerity cuts in Greece the site was closed in 2014 for a few months due to lack of funding. Money has been found to keep it open till the end of the year but this is temporary. If you are planning to visits it’s worth a quick phone call to check they are open ( don’t bother with an email, they never get answered!).
The region of Nemea produces some of the best wine in Greece.
